Oshkosh WI Christmas Lights 2014
Whether your personal holiday decoration tactics include the perilous journey up to the roof of your house to string up a dazzling display or slapping a snow globe down on the table and calling it a day, driving around to check out the holiday lights that others in your community have put together is a long-standing custom that kids and adults alike can enjoy during the holidays. Here in Oshkosh, we’re lucky to have an annual tradition that takes these drives to a whole new level.
Since 2001, the Oshkosh Celebration of Lights has been delighting area families and attracting visitors from throughout the Fox Valley and beyond. We’ll tell you all about this year’s event so you can start planning your trip.
When does the Oshkosh Celebration of Lights 2014 begin? This year’s Celebration starts on the evening of Tuesday, November 25th at 5:00pm. December 31st is the final night of the event.
Is it open every night? The Celebration of Lights is closed on Mondays with the exception of Monday, December 22nd.
Where is the 2014 Celebration of Lights held? Menominee Park in Oshkosh, on the shores of Lake Winnebago, is where the annual event is held. Cars should enter on Merritt Avenue, where signage for the Celebration of Lights will be apparent once you arrive at the park.
What will we see? As you make your way through the park, you’ll see animated lighted displays, breathtaking sculptures, carefully constructed scenes, and the truly impressive 100-foot tree. Every Friday and Saturday, the Elve’s Hideout (inside the Lakefly Cafe Zoo Entrance) is open from 5:30pm until 8:00pm where children can participate in craft-making and other activities and enjoy live storytelling.
What’s the price of admission? It’ll be just $8.00 per vehicle (buses are welcome and the cost will be a dollar per person). Want to save a buck and support the local community? Bring in non-perishable food items for the Winnebago Hunger Task Force and get $1.00 off the price of normal admission.
