Ask the right questions before signing the lease
onWhat To Look For When Renting an Apartment
If you are searching for an apartment to lease there is so much to think about. Where do you want to be located? How much do you want to pay? How big do I need my apartment? While these are all very important questions to ask, there are some questions you might forget about if you don’t think about the long term image of living in this apartment. Here is a list of questions to ask and what to look for when renting an apartment.
One question you should ask is if there is residential quiet hours. This is good to know if you tend to have friends over at later hours, play an instrument, or have a pet. If any of these will bother other tenants because of noise, this might not be the right place for you. Remember, this goes for the other tenants too. If you are easily bothered by noise surrounding you, think about a place with more strict quiet hours.
Also, don’t simply assume that once you move in the space is entirely yours to make home. Make sure you ask if painting or nailing art to the wall is allowed. You won’t want to be charged for wall alterations when you move out. Most older places are okay with paint, so if art is important to you, think about moving into an older building.
Other things to be aware of are parking and garbage. Make sure you ask about parking before you sign the lease. If the apartment is already over your budget, don’t find out that you have to pay to park when you have already signed on the dotted line. Also, make sure that you know where the garbage goes, and ask about the recycling policy. Some apartment buildings are more strict than others when it comes to the recycling going in the right area.
It is important to remember that even if the apartment looks amazing, sometimes policies may take away that charm. Don’t be afraid to ask all of these question plus more so you are still happy with your apartment even months after you sign the lease.
Don’t settle for just any apartment – get your dream place!
onTips for getting your dream place
The space that you call your home says a lot about you. And let’s face it, if you don’t like the apartment that you are living in, you aren’t going to be happy. There’s no reason to settle for anything but what you truly want when it comes to housing.
One of the best tips when it comes to finding your dream place is to do your research and weigh your decision. While great living spaces may be limited and the competition fierce, signing the first lease that comes your way could be a mistake. Often people think they love a place instantly, but they don’t really size it up and see if it is a good fit for them first. Continue reading
